"Neither do I condemn you"

Confidential Support Groups

Project Rachel offers small support groups for women and men suffering from an abortion. This confidential small group atmosphere is designed to allow women to share their abortion experiences with others and know they are not alone. The groups are all confidential and meet at certain times each week or month, depending on the group.

Dear Friend,

As you sit wondering why you’ve decided to come here tonight…what has brought you to this point in your life…how can you ever begin to express your feelings to the others sitting in this room, know that you are not alone.

You sit here tonight because the Holy Spirit has guided you here. You’ve come to this point in your life because you have decided that you cannot go on with the weight of past choices dragging you down. You sit here terrified that as you share your thoughts and feelings with the others in this room they will be horrified at the things you’ve done…but they won’t. How do I know this, you ask?

In February of 1998 I sat in your chair, I wore your shoes, and I had your same thoughts. It had been 16 years since I’d had the abortion. I had never actually said the words to anyone…not even myself! I was certain that I had committed the sin of all sins, that I could never forgive myself, and that God would never have me back! I had the dreadful feeling that I would never make it through this.

I am writing to you now to let you know that you are supposed to be here today. That the dreadful feeling will go away. I want you to know that Jesus didn’t die on the cross for all sins except yours and mine. He died on the cross because HE LOVES US. GOD WANTS US BACK!

Friend, know that God thinks you’re beautiful. Know that you can and will make it through this. Know that you can have a happy and healthy life that is normal again. Know that I’m praying for you each and every day. But most of all, know that I made it and you will too!
