Post-Abortion Syndrome


“Post-Abortion Syndrome” (P.A.S.) is a diagnostic term used more and more by professionals to describe a wide range of symptoms that are intimately related to, and expressions of, a previous abortion experience. It is a clinical way to understand what seems to be occurring in those who have directly or indirectly experienced an abortion.


Symptoms:


Depression

Guilt

Anxiety

Panic Attacks

Low Self-Esteem

Repression and Denial

Psychological “Numbing”

Reoccurring Nightmares

Difficulty with Relationships

Preoccupation with Becoming Pregnant Again

Anxiety Over Fertility and Childbearing Issues

Development of Eating Disorders

Alcohol and/or Substance Abuse

Inability to Forgive Self

Thoughts of Suicide

Interruption of the Bonding Process With Present and/or Future Children

Anniversary Sadness
